LED’s have an average 10 -13 year lifespan equating to approximately 50,000 hours compared to a fluorescent system with a life span of 20,000 hours and 2000 hours for halogen or incandescent bulbs
LED’s are available in different shades of white and all other colours.
Q: How energy efficient are LED’s?
A: Up to 90% more energy efficient than the conventional bulb. The energy comes from converting more energy into lighting instead of heat. Our manufacturers have invested millions of dollars in research and development and are recognised world leaders in this field. Standard LED lighting emits around 90 lumens per watt. FUJILITE premium products emit up to 160 lumens per watt. This means more light for less energy and less money.
Q: Are your LED lights brighter than conventional lighting?
A: Yes. We use the latest technology from Nichia, Cree, Samsung and other leading manufacturers in the field of illumination.
Q: Do the lights contain harmful mercury?
A: LED lights are free from mercury.
Q: If LED lights last for so long then why not just go to a discount store and get the cheapest LED lights?
A: The total cost of running an LED light is made up of a number of factors – the initial cost, how much energy they use and how long the bulb will last. Quality LED bulbs may cost a little more initially however longevity of the bulb and the very low energy consumption results in immediate savings.
Q: Can LED lights be used outside?
A: Yes. LED lights are available in an IP65 rating or greater. This means they are weather and dust proof. Because LED lights are 12V they are great for solar panels and off - grid energy solutions.
Q: I have heard that bugs are not attracted to LED lights?
A: Correct. Most lights emit UV radiations which is why bugs are attracted to the light source. Our lights have no UV and hence no bugs. Great for outdoor living.
Q: Do I need to change my light fixtures if I swap to LED lights?
A: No. In most cases you can use your existing fixtures. We just replace the bulb.
Q: What are lumen and isn’t more lumen better?
A: Lumen is the rating given to how bright a light is at the source. As you move away from the source, the light will appear less bright. The lumen does not change but the light you see (lux) does change. Just because something has a higher lumen does not mean it will appear brighter. The direction and dispersement of the light determines how bright objects appear.
Q: Can I use dimmers on the lights?
A: Some of our models work with dimmers. It depends on your requirements.
Q: What is the life expectancy of your bulbs?
A: The manufacturers rate the LED bulb’s life up to 50,000+ hours.
Q: Do LED get hot like halogen/incandescent bulbs?
A: No. LED lights don’t emit heat and most LED’s don’t contain glass minimizing the risk of fire hazards.
Q: What are the environmental tolerances for your lights?
A: Operating temperature guidelines are -40C to 60C.
Q: Why do LED lights appear a different colour than normal light?
A: Light colour is measured in Kelvin. LED lights cover the full spectrum from warm white (2700K) to cool white (9000k). We can match the colour of your existing lighting.
Q: Can your lights be used in extreme environments like cool rooms and freezers?
A: Yes. They are perfect for low temperature environments. Not only are the bulbs cheaper to power but there is less heat coming from the bulbs. This means the freezer does not have to cool all that extra heat.
Q: What does MV, MH & HPS mean?
A: These are acronyms for different lighting – Mercury Vapour, Metal Halide, High Pressure Sodium.
Q: Do the lights flicker?
A: No, unlike fluorescent bulbs there is no flickering.
